Most Floridians have "uprooted" themselves from established communities to follow the sun. Many settle into large, new developments where they never meet or really get to know their neighbors. Not so at Tidewater Island. Albeit architectural diversity has attracted unique personalities, a common thread of caring and the desire for old-fashioned neighborhood values has created friendly ties among those who have chosen to live in this wonderful island paradise.
On any given day you will see neighbors sharing iced tea on welcoming front porches, fishing from private backyard boat docks, jogging and dog-walking, or waving frantically from boats coming into the canals from a fishing expedition to show off the latest catch and share a tale about the "one that got away". Some Tidewater Islanders have also elected to take advantage of memberships available for golf, tennis, and/or dining at the Forest Country Club, just a mile "up the road".
In spite of all this activity, there is an overwhelming desire to "loosen the tie or kick off the heels" after a long, hard day at the office as you cross over the bridge to the island.
A
mesmerizing calm and magical serenity surrounds you as you enter this picturesque village of charming pastel homes, glistening waterways, and swaying palms...leaving the hectic outside world behind. What better time to retreat to your deck for a spectacular sunset over an expansive nature preserve, view of Estero Bay and the skyline of Fort Myers Beach? If the mood strikes you and you have the energy, why not untie your boat from your backdoor dock and head for the beach? You can be at Lovers Key in less than 20 minutes! Or, if you have selected a homesite on the lake, imagine a quiet dinner overlooking a mid-lake island with seven lighted waterfalls and uplit palms. It's been said that this wonderful view is "absolutely therapeutic" whether enjoyed in the evening or with morning coffee.
Why did these folks elect to live at Tidewater Island? The reasons are as diverse as their personalities. Was it the architecture, the opportunity to build a truly custom, island-style home or the convenient location-"an island in the mainstream"-only 2 miles from U.S. 41? Could it be the security of the 24-hour guard gate or the direct-access canals for boating? Perhaps it was simply the natural beauty of the land and surrounding nature preserve. Or maybe it was all of the above, combined with the ambience of Southern hospitality and special appeal of vacation-like homes in a small, friendly neighborhood that evoke happy childhood memories and the promise of a delightful future.
Visit Tidewater Island, soon, before you buy or build, and ask the friendly residents why, "We love it here"!
